Photo FAQ
How Do I Find My Pictures? After clicking on the link at the bottom
of my homepage, you will be taken to the PhotoReflect store. On the right hand
side is a list of dates. If yours isn’t showing, hit the “show
all events” link at the bottom of the list. After selecting your date,
then look through the appropriate catalog. Each date is divided into 10 sub
categories: Cars, Cruisers, Dirt/Motard/Dual-Sport/Adv. Tour, People I know,
Random & Bicycles, Sport Tour, Sportbikes, Standard & Naked, Touring
and Full Dress and Trikes, Scooter, and Sidecars. All photos taken that day
will be posted in one of those categories. Some bikes are more ambiguous than
others so you may have to look in more than one category. (If you feel that
I have mislabeled your bike, feel free to email a correction to me.)
Now That I Found Them, How Do I Order? Pictures
are ordered directly from the site where they are viewed. Please
try to total the number of pictures desired before placing in
cart so that the right package can be selected. When viewing
thumbnails, click the link in the upper right of page that says “show
more options” and this will add a checkbox marked “select” under
each photo. If your purchase includes different categories, you
may want to preview and total each category before adding to
cart. Once your photos are checked, you can choose the appropriate
package and apply to all selected items with the link at the
bottom of the page. If you have between 1 and 5 different pictures,
then they are $6 each and will arrive on 1 disc. If you have
14 pictures, your package would be the 11-15 one for $5 each.
Package pricing is set up to give a discount for customers ordering
more pictures, please do not abuse this and select the $4 price
if you don’t have 21 images. If you visited the Dragon
with friends consider a group order to get a better price and
have someone in the group burn a copies.
What About Copyright? Each
disc contains a disclaimer giving you the right to do anything
you want with the photos. If you intend to publish or use the
photos for commercial advertising purposes, I only ask for notification
(and info on how to get a copy) and photo credit for ZeeFoto.com
Why Only Digital Images? (Can
I Get Prints?) Currently I provide only the CD with digital images.
Having the original 2544x1696 image is as good as having the
negative. You can copy, resize, email, burn to disc or print
from the CD. If you have a photo capable printer at home, they
can be printed there. Many places like Walmart or Walgreens can
provide you with prints much cheaper than I can print and ship.
Isn’t $6 too expensive/too cheap? I
feel that the pricing is more than fair. I enjoy what I do, but
it isn’t always easy or fun to stand on the side of the
road in (almost) the middle of nowhere with the bugs, animals,
sun, rain, cold, etc. Not to mention watching your friends have
fun riding while you are working. Some days are up to 10 hours
of shooting followed by a couple of hours sorting. Since this
business is just me, I invest a lot of time to keep up with order
burning, shipping, sorting, shooting and uploading. I’m
not trying to be rich……….just comfortable enough
to afford a vacation somewhere warm in the winter and support
my bike habit.
When Will My Picture Be Available? I generally
try to upload pictures from the previous week on Tuesday night
or Wednesday morning. The days load individually so that as soon
as the last picture from the day is finished uploading, the date
becomes available on the site for viewing. Wednesdays are usually
my only day off and I do not shoot! If the upload starts Tuesday
night, everything is usually loaded by Wednesday early evening.
If it doesn’t start until Wednesday morning, it may be
very late Wednesday night or Tuesday morning before everything
is available.
Tips
for an Enjoyable Ride thru the Dragon
1. Ride your own ride.
2. Stay in your lane.
3. Be aware of your surroundings.
If a vehicle (of any kind) shows up in your rearview, let
it pass
if safe and/or possible. If you are on a bike, you
may be able to ease to the right portion of the lane and wave
the other
vehicle through. If you are in a car you may use the
numerous pull offs to allow quicker traffic to pass but make
sure
you
check out the drop off from the pavement, some are
a good 4-6 inches. DO NOT try to wave someone thru on a blind
turn,
this
is unsafe for everyone. If you encounter someone who
tries to keep you from passing by acting in an unsafe manner,
back
off or pull off and watch the world go by for a few
minutes
before continuing. Please don’t force the pass.
4. If you do pull off to hang out enjoy
the scenery for a few minutes, look at your parking job in
relation to potential crash trajectories and re-park if need
be
5. Remember that no one
cares how fast you are if you don’t make it to the
other side.
6. Understand that the Dragon is a US highway
and semis use it regularly. And anything over 32 feet uses
the entire road to make most of the turns. If you can safely
get in front of the rig, serve as an escort by riding a turn
or two ahead of him while motioning for people to slow down
or stop if necessary. You may actually save a life.
7. If it is your first time
to visit the Dragon, you should know that it is considered
bad luck to put
your dragon stickers on before your trip is over. In fact,
don’t put them on until you’re a few hours away
on your trip home. We’ve seen a lot of people do this
and then fall over at some point in the weekend, sometimes
it’s a parking lot fall over or low speed crash, but
it has on occasion been worse. Don’t tempt the Dragon
by proclaiming her slain before your whole trip is a success.
8. This is the south. Respect
and manners can get you somewhere should your draw the attention
of our
local LEO’s. It’s best not to be a hooligan and
attract their attention, but if you do, save yourself the
trouble by being honest and polite and you might be pleasantly
surprised.
9. Do not think that you
can master or completely and infallibly memorize this road
in 1 weekend or
even 1 summer. It takes many years to acquire the intimate
road knowledge that the seasoned veterans and locals
have. Don’t try to follow them if you are not capable.
10. If you are in a group,
everyone should have emergency contact info for all the people
in their group.
If possible you should make copies of their insurance cards
to be kept somewhere safe. It’s not a pleasant aspect
of riding, but if an accident occurs it will be a bit less
stressful if you aren’t scrambling to find that information.
You should also have your own emergency contact info on your
person at all times. Wallets and tank bags can get lost and
saddlebags can be torn open so make sure that the emergency
personnel treating you knows anything they need to know.
